Head coach/Offensive coordinator: Brad Uemoto (6th season) Defensive coordinator: Ivan Higashi
Players to watch: OL Brock Walters (6-0, 220, Jr.), WR/DB Ro'o Satta-Ellis (5-10, 170, Jr.), QB Garrison Higgins (5-10, 170, Sr.), DL Maui Ellis-Noa (5-9, 230, Sr.), WR/DB Kamaehu Makanui (5-10, 180, Sr.)
Coach's words: "We lost four players to mainland transfer, we basically lost eight starting positions and it hurts us in a sense. This season we're depending on our younger talent from the JV system and have to get them in and get up to speed at the varsity level to be productive. Our team overall this year, we don't have true standout guys. It's refreshing to have a group where everyone is even. It's a good group that plays team football, no egos, and they do their jobs." - Brad Uemoto
SL's take: The Wildcats' first year in Division I two years ago was a highly-successful one that saw them win eight games and come up one win shy of reaching the state tournament. The only in-state them that they lost to that year? Hilo, who went on to win the D1 state title. This, however, is going to be a bit of a rebuilding season, given what Konawaena has lost by way of graduation, but moreso, outgoing transfers. Among those players who have left are Hezekiah Anahu-Ambrosio, who led the team in rushing and was an All-Hawaii second team selection as an all-purpose player on special teams. Higgins, who owns a 4.1 grade point average, has been in the program for some time, but will be taking his very first varsity snaps this fall. Ellis-Noa, who averaged 5.0 yards per carry as part of a rotation at RB as a sophomore, will be the anchor of the DL. Walters will also have dual roles as the C on offense and the LS on special teams. Satta-Ellis is versatile enough to play both WR and SB.
