MANOA — Second-seeded and sixth-ranked Punahou pounded No. 3 Roosevelt, 11-4, in Thursday evening's DataHouse/HHSAA Division I State Championships quarterfinals at Rainbow Wahine Softball Stadium to advance to Friday's semifinal round.

The Buffanblu racked up 16 hits which included bunching together nine singles in an eight-run second inning.

Shortstop D'Asha Saiki and catcher Liana Heshiki both batted 3 for 4 with a home run and two runs scored.

Jadalee Takara led the Rough Riders with a 2-for-3 outing and a three-run home run in the top of the sixth.

Punahou will meet up with Leilehua in a rematch of last season's state title game. The winner will face the winner of Iolani and Baldwin in the other semifinal. Championship game is set for Saturday at 7 p.m.
