HALAWA - Kamana Pimental rushed for three touchdowns - including the game-winner - and Kawai Mook-Garcia accounted for three other scores as Saint Louis held off 'Iolani, 42-35, in an Interscholastic League of Honolulu game at Aloha Stadium Friday night.

The Crusaders (5-2 overall, 2-2 ILH), tied for seventh in this week's ScoringLive/OC16 Football Power Rankings, took a 28-14 lead at halftime, but allowed 21 second-half points by the Raiders (4-3, 2-2), who tied it at 35 late in the game.

After 'Iolani knotted it with three minutes and 49 seconds to play on a 1-yard run and extra point - both by Jordan Lee - Saint Louis took over at its own 35-yard line. A holding penalty on the first play of the drive pushed the Crusaders back, but on a fourth-and-two, Mook-Garcia kept the drive alive with a 3-yard pass to Ricky Ahlo-Pinera to the 'Iolani 40-yard line. Five plays later, Mook-Garcia took a third-and-two into his own hands and kept on an option play for a 17-yard gain down to the 5. After a timeout with 23 seconds left on the clock, Pimental took the handoff from Mook-Garcia's left and beat the defense to the front left pylon for the go-ahead score with 17 seconds to play.

"In that crucial situation, the only thing that was on my mind is that all things are possible through God and that He's always with me," said Pimental, who finished with 142 yards rushing on 22 carries. "It was a very exciting game, a very emotional game."

Saint Louis head coach Darnell Arceneaux praised his senior running back - who also scored on runs of 12 and 20 yards in the first half - as well as the opposition.

"Mana to me, is the best running back in the state - that's just my view on it - but it's nice to kind of feed him a little bit," Arceneaux said. "This was a very good win for us tonight, we played a very good football team in 'Iolani."

Saint Louis, the defending Division I state champions, scored on its first drive, which covered 84 yards on seven plays, capped by Mook-Garcia's 41-yard scoring strike to Jeremy Tabuyo with 8:44 left in the first quarter. On the scoring play, Tabuyo - who was aligned wide left of the formation - hauled in the pass near the Raiders' 35-yard line, cut inside of a defender before using the block of tight end Dallas Tu'umalo to spring free down the left sideline for the touchdown. Kouri Nago tacked on the PAT to make the score 7-0.

'Iolani, ranked ninth in the SL/OC16 Power Rankings, got a quick score on the ensuing kickoff. Sheldon Gallarde fielded the ball at his own 14-yard line, found a running lane in the middle of the field, before cutting back to the right near the 30-yard line and went untouched the rest of the way to the end zone. The 86-yard kickoff return got the Raiders' on the board three minutes and 30 seconds into the game.

Mook-Garcia and the Crusaders answered on their next possession. After a 37-yard kickoff return by Ahlo-Pinera gave his team a short field to work with, Mook-Garcia found Acen Cabral for a 22-yard touchdown pass with 6:19 left in the first. After he received the shotgun snap, Mook-Garcia looked off the safeties to his left, before coming back to the middle of the field and finding a wide-open Cabral for the score.

Saint Louis extended its lead with 1:21 to play in the first after Pimental found the end zone from 12 yards out. Before the snap, Tu'umalo motioned from left to right of the formation to help open a lane for the senior running back. Pimental followed the block of 6-foot-4, 280-pound right tackle Reeve Koehler to paydirt.

Tu'umalo, a 5-foot-10, 220-pound senior, left the game early in the second quarter when he suffered a broken left leg after he was tackled following a 10-yard pass reception. He was taken off the field by an ambulance and is expected to miss the rest of the season.

An interception by the Crusaders' Uakea Street on 'Iolani's next possession set-up Pimental's second rushing score of the first half. The 20-yard touchdown run up the middle by the 5-foot-9, 180-pound Pimental made it 28-7 with 6:54 left in the half.

Pimental had 106 rushing yards on 13 carries by halftime.

Kody Mento scored with 4:20 remaining on a 10-yard run for 'Iolani. Following the PAT by Jordan Lee, the Crusaders' lead was cut to 28-14.

Saint Louis again took a three-score lead when Mook-Garcia capped a nine-play, 70-yard drive with his 6-yard scamper around left end to make it 35-14.

Raiders' quarterback Reece Foy, who entered the game leading all Division II passers with 1,222 yards and 11 touchdowns, finished 20-of-32 passing for 213 yards with one interception. All but 47 of his pass yards came in the second half.

'Iolani scored 14 points before Saint Louis ran an offensive play in the second half. Gallarde's 7-yard reverse into the end zone capped a 16-play 'Iolani drive that covered 73 yards and took three minutes and 40 seconds off the clock.

After Saint Louis fumbled on the ensuing kickoff, Maxwell Look recovered it for the Raiders on the Crusaders' 43-yard line. Two plays later, Foy completed a 30-yard pass to Tanner Nishioka to set-up Kody Mento's 1-yard touchdown run on fourth-and-goal. Lee's made good on the PAT to make the score 35-28 with 5:51 left in the third.

The Crusaders put together an eight-play drive, but were eventually forced to punt it away and 'Iolani drove 80 yards in 11 plays on its ensuing drive, which ended with Lee's game-tying 1-yard TD run.

The Raiders, who were outgained 299 offensive yards to 64 in the first half, turned the tide on Saint Louis in the final 24 minutes, 178 to 122.

The Raiders got the ball back with 14 seconds remaining following Pimental's third TD run, but Kamalei Correa sacked Foy for a 16-yard loss on first down and Foy's pass on second down was batted away by Street to end the game.

"Our guys played hard and they never gave up - that's what we always talk about is that we'll play hard until the finish and whether it's 100 to 0, or we lose by one, we'll go down swinging," 'Iolani coach Wendell Look said.

Mook-Garcia finished with 162 yards on 13-of-24 passing for Saint Louis, which racked up 421 yards of total offense, including 259 rushing. Nishioka led all players with six receptions for 110 yards.
