Tyler Taumua rushed for a game-high 154 yards, including 148 in the first half, on just 15 carries and Farrington's defense bent but did not break in a 25-0 shutout of Kailua last night.
A Homecoming crowd of about 3,500 at Roosevelt's Ticky Vasconcellos Stadium watched the Governors, No. 2 in the ScoringLive Power Rankings, stay unbeaten at 5-0 overall and 3-0 in the O'ahu Interscholastic Association's Red Conference Eastern Division. The Surfriders fell to 1-4, 1-2.

The only score of the first half came with 3:29 remaining on a 62-yard fumble return by defensive back Setefano Lavatai, who scooped up a loose ball after a Kailua swing pass to the left. The extra point attempt was wide left.

Farrington made it 12-0 on the second play from scrimmage in the third quarter, as Travis Tamapua connected with Toma Barrett on an 82-yard pass play. The two-point conversion run attempt failed, but Kailua's ensuing possession stalled at the 7-yard line after a missed 25-yard field goal try.
The Govs struck quickly with 9:22 left in the game, when Lavatai returned a punt 48 yards to the Surfriders' 38 to set up a touchdown pass from Tamapua to Francis Evagelia on the very next play to make it 18-0. The two-point conversion pass fell incomplete, but Farrington effectively sealed the victory with 3:53 remaining on Abraham Silva's 1-yard TD plunge.

Kailua quarterback Kahaku Iaea completed a staggering 39 passes in 69 attempts for 249 yards, but was intercepted once and the Surfriders came up empty despite four trips to the red zone.
