Kawika Shoji headlines 'Iolani boys volleyball clinic


Former 'Iolani and Stanford standout Kawika Shoji will be a featured guest coach Saturday at the inaugural 'Iolani Raiders Boys Volleyball Clinic.

The clinic will include two sessions at 'Iolani gym: one for sixth-to-eighth-grade boys and girls from 2:30-5 p.m., and one for 9th-to-12th grade boys and girls from 5:30-8:30 p.m.

The fee is $25 per session, with a $5 discount for 'Iolani students.

Shoji, a 2006 'Iolani graduate, was named 2010 College Player of the Year by the American Volleyball Coaches Association after leading Stanford to the NCAA championship. He is a former Honolulu Advertiser State Player of the Year in both volleyball and basketball and currently plays professional volleyball in Europe in addition to training with the USA National Team.

He was inducted into the HHSAA Hall of Honor in 2006.
