Kamehameha boys, Punahou girls win state titles


 



The Interscholastic League of Honolulu won both the boys and girls titles at the OC16 Swimming and Diving State Championships held at Kihei Aquatic Center on Maui.

Kamehameha boys won their first title since 2006, while the Punahou girls claimed their second straight crown, and sixth in the last seven years.

Seabury Hall's Renny Richmond won the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 47.57, breaking his previous state-record mark of 48.04 set just last year. He also won the 50-yard freestyle with a time of a 20.52.

Spencer Madanay also set a new state meet record in 1-meter diving. The Punahou senior won with a score of 581.10, bettering his previous mark of 486.10 by 95 points.
