Kamehameha, MPI are top seeds for state tournament


Kamehameha will be the No. 1 seed for the Outrigger Hotels & Resorts/Hawai'i High School Athletic Association Girls Soccer Division I State Championships and Mid-Pacific is the top seed in DII.

The two 12-team tournaments will be held simultaneously from Wednesday through Saturday at the Waipi'o Peninsula Soccer Complex in Waipahu.

Kamehameha is the Interscholastic League of Honolulu champion. O'ahu Interscholastic Association champ Moanalua is the No. 2 seed, with Maui Interscholastic League champion Baldwin at No. 3 and Big Island Interscholastic Federation champ Kealakehe at No. 4.

In DII, MPI is the ILH's lone representative. Kauai Interscholastic Federation champion Kauai High is No. 2, followed by BIIF DII champ Hawai'i Prep at No. 3 and OIA White Conference champion Waipahu.

The top four seeds in each division gain first-round byes and will begin tournament play in Thursday's quarterfinals.

DIVISION I

Wednesday

(all games at 3 p.m.)

Match 2: Kapolei vs. Mililani (Field 6)
Match 3: Konawaena vs. Pearl City (Field 7)

Thursday

Quarterfinals (all games at main stadium)

Match 7: Baldwin vs. 'Aiea-'Iolani winner, 1 p.m.
Match 8: Kealakehe vs. Kapolei-Mililani winner, 3 p.m.
Match 9: Moanalua vs. Konawaena-Pearl City winner, 5 p.m.
Match 10: Kamehameha vs. Kaiser-Kamehameha-Maui winner, 7 p.m.
