North wins OC16 Volleyball Invitational in five sets


Castle's Joshell Lilio had 13 kills and six blocks and Sacred Hearts' Shawna-Lei Santos added 13 kills, one block and one ace last night to help the North outlast the West, 25-14, 25-22, 22-25, 23-25, 15-10 last night in the OC16 Senior Girls Volleyball Invitational at McKinley's Student Council Gym.

Roosevelt's Jasmine Fujimoto had seven kills, one block and one ace, Mid-Pacific's Shelbi Miyashiro added six kills, one block and one ace and Waialua's Rayelle Pactol chipped in with six kills for the North, which scored the final five points of the match.

Punahou's Tai Manu-Olevao had a match-high 27 kills and Campbell's Ashley Kelsey added 24 kills, two blocks and one ace to lead the West.

In the third-place match, Kamehameha's Misty Ma'a had 23 kills, one block and two aces to help the South defeat the East, 25-21, 25-19, 22-25, 25-18.

Harlee Meyers of Saint Francis and Pearl City's Brandee-Gail Chun each added seven kills, Waipahu's Kaiulani Abasial contributed four kills, Wai'anae's Kaitlyn Ka'aha'aina finished with three kills and two aces and La Pierta's Tiffany Gassman had two kills and two blocks for the South.

Kapolei's Toe Motu led the East with 11 kills, Moanalua's Erin Perez added seven kills and one ace and University High's Michelle Fainberg and McKinley's Mariah Sione each had six kills.
