Brackets set for state tournaments


The final piece of the Division I state football tournament will be decided Saturday night when Campbell plays Leilehua for third place in the Oahu Interscholastic Association Red tournament.

Kickoff is 6 p.m. at Hugh Yoshida Stadium.

The winner visits Kealakehe Nov. 11 in an opening-round game of the state tournament. Farrington, which lost to Kahuku for the OIA championship Friday night, will play Baldwin Nov. 11 at War Memorial Stadium on Maui.

Interscholastic League of Honolulu champion Punahou and Kahuku draw first-round byes. Kahuku will play in the Nov. 18 semifinals at Aloha Stadium against the winner of the Kealakehe game. Punahou will play the winner of Farrington-Baldwin in the other semifinal.

The Hawaii High School Athletic Association announced the pairings Friday night.

In Division II, two league champions will be crowned Saturday to complete the tournament's pairings.

The Big Island Interscholastic Federation D2 champion - either Konawaena or Kamehameha-Hawaii - will play Lahainaluna at War Memorial Stadium 7 p.m. Nov. 12

The winner of Saturday's Kauai Interscholastic Federation championship between Kapaa and Waimea will play OIA White runner-up Pearl City at Vidinha Stadium 4:30 p.m. Nov. 12.

Iolani and Waipahu draw first-round byes. In semifinals the following week, Iolani will host the winner of the KIF-Pearl City game, 2 p.m. Nov. 19 at Iolani. The winner of the BIIF-Lahainaluna game will play Waipahu, 7 p.m. Nov. 18.
