Buffanblu sweep ILH track and field championships


 





Punahou won the boys and girls team titles yesterday at the Interscholastic League of Honolulu track and field championships.

The Buffanblu, capitalizing on its home campus site, held off Kamehameha in the boys competition with 162 points compared to the Warriors' 140. Punahou jumper Christine Tsai won three events to lead the Buffanblu girls to a dominating team victory with 205 overall points.

Tsai won the long jump with a leap of 17 feet, 3.75 inches, the triple jump with a mark of 35-3.25 and the high jump at 5-2.

Seven meet records were set:

-- Saint Louis' 4x100 relay team posted a time of 42.83

-- �Kamehameha's Jordan Thibodeau ran 800 meters in 1:54.32

-- Pac-Five's Hannah Sherrill threw the discus 140 feet, 6 inches

-- Punahou's Sammy Marumoto pole vaulted 10 feet, 7.5 inches

-- 'Iolani's Abrianna Johnson-Edwards ran the 100 hurdles in 15.12 seconds

-- Punahou's Julia Brand ran the 300 hurdles in 44.64

-- 'Iolani's Breanne Ball ran the 800 in 2:15.88
