In a win-or-go-home game, Radford senior TJ Reid put on a sensational three-touchdown performance to rally the Rams to a 29-22 win over visiting Moanalua Friday night before a crowd of about 1,500 fans at John Velasco Stadium.

Reid caught a pair of TD passes and threw another while quarterback Maika Ulufale passed for 204 yards with three scores - including the game-winning TD with one minute and 26 seconds left - to help Radford advance to next week's quarterfinal round of the O'ahu Interscholastic Association Red (Division I) Tournament. The Rams (5-4) will visit Kahuku, the top-ranked team in the Scoring Live/OC-16 Power Rankings while Na Menehune (4-5) saw their season come to an end.

"We were excited for this game. It was a playoff game, on TV and against one of our rivals, so we wanted to come out with a lot of energy," said Reid, who plays receiver and defensive back. "It was a tough game, they're a good team and they came to play, we were just fortunate to win it in the end."

Radford jumped ahead 14-0, but Moanalua scored 22 straight points to take the lead in the third quarter.

Moanalua's offense went three-and-out midway through the fourth quarter after being backed up inside its own 10-yard line. Richard Villasenor punted away on fourth down and Radford took over at the Moanalua 32. On the first play of the drive, Ulufale tossed a pitch out to the right to the Reid, who then threw to a wide-open Andrew Togialua for a touchdown.

"The coaches called a good play and Maika got me the ball, everything was set up and all I had to do was throw it," Reid said.

On the ensuing conversion attempt, Ulufale used a play-action pass to find tight end Troy Evans in the back of the end zone to tie it at 22 with 5:09 left.

Na Menehune against went three-and-out offensively and Radford started the go-ahead drive on Moanalua's 37 with 3:28 to play

Ulufale moved the chains with a 10-yard pass to Hogan on a second-and-eight and found Togialua on the very next play for a 14-yard pick-up to give Radford a first down at the 11-yard line. Hogan ran for a pair of yards on first down before Ulufale hooked up with Togialua for a nine-yard scoring strike with 1:26 on the clock. Ulufale checked down to his tight end, who was crossing underneath most of the defense from left to right.

"It was all about the team tonight," said Reid, who finished with seven catches for 114 yards, both game highs. "We believed in each other and never gave up."

The Rams got an early boost from its defense when linebacker Cy Salanoa drilled Na Menehune quarterback Dillon Turk on a third-down pass attempt. It was ruled that Turk fumbled on the play and defensive end Christian Beale recovered for the Rams on the Moanalua 41-yard line. Three plays later, Ulufale connected with Reid for a 32-yard touchdown pass on a quick throw out to the right flat. Reid, a 5-foot-10, 175-pound senior juked the cornerback and ran untouched for the game's opening score. Cayman Conley added the extra point and the hosts led 7-0 with 7:39 left in the first quarter.

Radford went ahead 14-0 on an eight-play, 44-yard drive that included two fourth-down conversions. Conley, who is also the punter, executed a fake punt to perfect on a fourth-and-10 from the Moanalua 44. After receiving the long snap, Conley began a rugby-style, running kick, but pulled up and threw to a wide-open Reid, who was aligned as the right gunner in the punt formation. The play resulted in a 17-yard gain and gave the Rams a first down on the 27. Two plays later, Moanalua's Jordan Tanioka sacked Ulufale for a four-yard loss to step-up a fourth-and-13 from the 30. Ulufale came right back and tossed an arching rainbow along the left sideline to a streaking Reid, who separated from the defensive back near the 10-yard line. Conley's PAT was good with 3:14 left in the second quarter.

Moanalua finally got on the board with just under a minute before halftime on a fumble recovery by Darren Apo in the end zone on a mishandled snap by Ulufale. Na Menehune ran a fake field goal on the ensuing conversion and Turk's pass was complete to Martin Taulelei to make it 14-8.

Midway through the third quarter, running back Charles Spencer broke a 27-yard run to find the end zone and after Lee Arakawa tacked on the PAT, Moanalua took its first lead of the game at 15-14.

Ulufale threw his second interception of the game on Rams' next drive and Moanalua recycled the turnover into a 3-yard Spencer TD run to extend its lead to 22-14 with 3:40 left in the third quarter.

"Our boys played hard tonight, but we just came up a little short," Na Menehune coach Arnold Martinez said. "We played a good team in Radford and they showed that when they came back, but I'm still very proud of my players and their effort."

Despite playing on an sprained left ankle, Spencer finished with 130 yards on 21 rushes.
