One week removed from a stunning 19-13 defeat, Kamehameha-Hawaii bounced back in a big way, notching a leave-no-doubt 38-0 win over Hawaii Prep to claim the BIIF Division II title.
The Warriors got a major boost from the defense in the win, with four interceptions in the contest, including two of them returned for touchdowns, one by Xayden Kama brought back 51 yards in the second quarter, and the other a 22 yard return for a score by Teva Sanchez in the third.
Xander Hoopai made it a 17-0 game at the half with a six yard rushing score, and Adam Perry found Andrew Boshard on a 27 yard pass play that made it 31-0 after three.
In the fourth quarter, Keanu Gebin put a cap on the victory with a score from four yards out that invoked the mercy rule.
Offensively for the Warriors, Shiloh Santos had 20 carries for 78 yards and Adam Perry had a relatively quiet night, completing just 11 of 17 passes for 147 yards.
Alakai Aipia had a game-high 86 yards on 14 carries in the loss for Ka Makani.
With the win, Kamehameha-Hawaii will be sole representative out of the BIIF in the upcoming HHSAA Division II state tournament.
