Jerzie Liana fired a one-hitter and tossed 13 strikesouts and No. 2 Waianae cranked out 12 hits to wipe out No. 8 Kaiser, 7-0, in the OIA Division I semifinals at McKinley's Tiger Softball Stadium.

After crushing Pearl City (1-11), 17-0 in four innings in the quarterfinals, the Seariders (10-2) followed up with another shut out to reach the title game for the first time since 2014.

"This is exciting. I'm excited and nervous. But I feel like we got it. We have to take it one pitch at a time. We have a lot of supporters on the west side, more than we had in a while and I appreciate that," second year Waianae coach Tiani Hensley said.

Liana, a CSUN commit, went the distance and threw 13 strikes and walked two as she improved to 10-2 on the season.

"I felt good coming into the game. My screw balls were working and it helped me throughout the game," Liana said.

"I'm so proud of her. She works hard during practice and after practice so it really shows every time on the field," Hensley said.

Future CSUN teammate Moani Ioane went 3-for-4 at the plate and Jerrell Oriana Mailo and Charlee Rose Stevens each homered.

Liana and Ioane were members of Kapolei's OIA championship team last year before transferring to Waianae for their senior seasons.

Teizsha Kaopuiki grounded to short and Liana flew out to right for the first two outs, but Waianae followed up with four straight hits. After Ioane and Braiesey Rosa singled to left, Alize Tangaro-Smith's double got the Seariders on the scoreboard. Mailo followed up with a two-RBI shot to left center. After Stevens walked, Kehaulani Tambaoan-Kaeo drove in another run to make it, 4-0, before Camryn Hensley grounded out to second.

Liana beaned Trendee Kahunahana and walked Amai Hanta. Hanta was out on a fielder's choice to second and Liana settled down to strike out Summer Buck and Kylie Ifuku.

"I've been struggling with the first inning. After hitting the first batter and walking, I just needed to settle down and get my pitches there," Liana said.

She struck out the next five Cougar batters before Hanta broke up the no-hit bid in the top of the third with a grounder up the middle for Kaiser's lone hit of the game.

Mailo reached on the lone error of the game in the third inning and Stevens launched a two-run homer over the right field fence for a 6-0 lead.

Mailo finished 3-for-4 and led off the top of the fifth with a solo homer over the left field fence for the final run of the game.

"That was a relief because were watching Kaiser against Leilehua yesterday and it was a close game all the way through and at the end, they pulled through. Those insurance runs really sealed the coffin on the game," Hensley said.

Keira Uegawachi pitched 2 1/3 innings, scattering seven hits and five of the six Waianae runs were earned in the loss. Kalie Otani finished the game scattering five hits and walking two.

Kaiser will face Mililani for third place. The Seariders and Cougars already clinched spots in the DataHouse/HHSAA Softball State Championships state tournament starting on May 2.

Waianae is seeking its first OIA championship since 1983 while the Cougars were seeking their first title game appearance.
