Punahou advanced to the quarterfinals of the Motiv8/HHSAA Division I boys soccer championships with a 2-0 victory over Kapolei.

After a scoreless first half, the Buffanblu finally things going in the 51st minute with a goal from Declan Horio, his team leading 10th score of the year. Then, in the 77th minute of play, the Buffanblu struck again, getting an insurance score courtesy of Noa Yoo to put the game all but out of reach. It was just Yoo's second of the season, and his first since finding the back of next against Damien on Dec. 20.

The unseeded Buffanblu move on to face BIIF champion Hilo in the quarterfinals set for 3 p.m. Thursday at the Waipio Soccer Complex. A season ago Punahou, the top overall seed in the tournament, was knocked off by Kalani in a game that tied 2-2 in regular time and went to penalty kicks, with the Falcons prevailing 4-1.
