KALIHI—No. 4 Mililani took advantage of short field position and scored in each quarter to flatten No. 5 Campbell, 42-7, in the Oahu Interscholastic Association Open Division semifinals at Farrington's Edward ‘Skippa' Diaz Stadium at Kusunoki Field Friday.

The Trojans (5-1 overall) lock up a First Hawaiian Bank/HHSAA state tournament berth and advance to face either No. 1 Kahuku or No. 9 Waianae for the league title next week Friday.

Because their game against Farrington last week was canceled due to lighting issues at John Kauinana Stadium, Mililani celebrated their seniors and members of the cheerleading squad following the game.

The Sabers (4-3 overall) dropped their third-straight game and face the loser of Kahuku/Waianae in the third place game and the winner clinches the final state berth.

Emana Tarape finished with 135 yards on 6-of-8 passing, four touchdowns and a pick. He was 3-of-4 passing for 102 yards and three touchdowns in the first quarter.

"Mana did great, he's still growing. I took him out to play our senior quarterback (Makavelli Novera). Momentum kind of changed a little bit, but I'm proud of my guys, they play hard no matter what," Mililani coach Rod York said.

Campbell went three-and-out on their opening possession and Mililani took over on the Saber 47. Nehemiah Timoteo rushed three times for 14 yards to set up Emana Tarape's 33-yard touchdown pass to Jensyn McGee for the Trojans' first score.

"Defense played great," York said. "We were fortunate that our defense set the tone for us."

Gavin Hunter blocked the punt and Kamaehu Roman recovered it on the Campbell 33. Two plays later, Tarape launched a 30-yard touchdown to Raymond Roller and Makel Paiva (6 for 6 on PATs) made it, 14-0.

"Big shout out to my coaches and teammates. We put the trust in the coaches, they prepared us throughout the week. When you're playing with all the ballers, it makes my job easy," Hunter said.

"He's athletic, he's a Division I guy. He's a team player and contributes in anyway he can," York said of Hunter.

The Sabers were forced to punt for a third straight time and personal foul penalty gave Mililani prime field position on the Campbell 27. The Trojans were pushed back by a holding a false start penalty, but Tarape found Timoteo on a screen and he took it 39 yards to the end zone for a 21-0 lead.

"That was really big. The coaches kept telling us to fire on all cylinders on defense and special teams," Timoteo said.

Jonah Tofagau-Tavui started the game and threw for 38 yards on 7-of-11 passing and was picked off by Aiden Manutai to give Mililani the ball on the Campbell 30. Timoteo rushed for a 17-yard gain and an illegal block on the Sabers placed the ball on the 7. On the next play, Timoteo rushed it in to make it, 28-0 early in the second quarter.

Timoteo finished with 79 rushing yards on 11 attempts and averaged, 7.2 yards per carry.

"They work hard during practice. We only have a handful of linemen so coaches sometimes during practice say they gotta to take it easy because they go," Timoteo said, crediting the offensive line.

Togafau-Tavui was injured and Chayne Kuboyama-Hayashi came in at quarterback. The Sabers got down to the Mililani 24 after a roughing the passer penalty, but Hunter blocked Sehuthia Maka-Maile's 42-yard field goal attempt and Makanalea Meyer returned it 50 yards to the Campbell 45.

Kela Moore intercepted Makavelli Novera near the 2 to thwart another score, but the offense punted for the fifth time in the first half.

Lando Werner-Celes' 87-yard kick off return was negated by a block-in-the-back penalty and Mililani started on their own 30. Hunter hauled in a 14-yard pass and Timoteo rushed for 21 yards on two carries. The Trojans went to Tavian Hallums four times for 12 yards to set up Hunter's 21-yard touchdown pass from Tarape to make it, 35-0 to start running clock.

Kuboyama-Hayashi threw for 152 yards on 13-of-28 passing and threw a 40-yard touchdown to Rowen-Ray Bucao, who caught a game-high nine passes for 82 yards and added 95 kickoff return yards for 177 all-purpose yards. Dallas John Fonseca-Juan added 81 yards on seven catches.

Meyer turned a pass from Novera into a 84-yard touchdown for the final score of the night. Novera finished with 113 yards on 6-of-8 passing.

Semeri Ulukale Jr. and Mikey Agasiva each had two tackle for losses and a sack Ryan Constantino had four solo tackles to lead the Trojan defense that held Campbell to minus-4 net rushing and 186 yards of total offense.

Tysic Puni led the defense with five total tackles, Moore finished with two interceptions and Diego Betancourt had the other pick to lead the Sabers' defense.

Mililani beat Campbell in the regular season on Nov. 20, 48-14.
