Schools across state honoring Class of 2020 with lighted stadiums

With graduation ceremonies and sporting events canceled for the remainder of the school year, schools across the state are honoring the Class of 2020 by keeping the lights on.

Aiea, Kahuku, Kaiser, Lahainaluna, Leilehua, McKinley, Maui, Mililani, Moanalua, Pearl City, Radford, Waianae and Waipahu are among the schools that have joined the nationwide movement, #BeTheLight, turning on stadium lights for the Class of 2020.

This honorary lighting will begin on April 24 and continue every Friday until May 29.at 8:20 p.m. (2020 military time) for 20 minutes and 20 seconds.

"Unfortunately with the closing of schools many special activities have been canceled for our senior class," said Pearl City athletic director Reid Shigemasa. "It's the Charger way to provide something that is positive and provide a beacon of light to show that we are thinking of them."
