Damien snapped a three-game losing streak with a 54-45 win over visiting Scared Hearts Friday night to close out ILH Division II first round play.

Theresa Anakalea scored 24 points as Damien improved to 4-5 in league play. Kaira Wengler and Tiare Arquero followed with 11 and nine points respectively.

Mahina Kaleiheana-Erickson led the Lancers (5-4) in the loss with 15 points and 13 boards.

Damien is seeded second in the league's second-round tournament, which determines who will be the fourth ILH D2 team to join Mid-Pacific, Hanalani and Hawaii Baptist in the state tournament. The Monarchs will likely host either University Lab or Le Jardin next Thursday in a 6 p.m. contest.

Sacred Hearts will also play on that same date with a home game at 5 p.m. against the winner between the ILH D2's last place finisher and Christian Academy, the ILH D3 champion.
