Archbishop Wood, Garfield and Jefferson advance in Iolani Classic


 





KAPIOLANI — In Day 2 action of the opening round of the 2019 Iolani Prep Classic, Archbishop Wood (Warminster, Pennsylvania), Garfield (Seattle, Washington) and Jefferson (Portland, Oregon) came out victorious to advance to Thursday's quarterfinal round at Iolani School.

Junior Rahsool Diggins led the Vikings past Moanalua with 22 points. Geremy Robinson put up a team-high 10 points for Na Menehune. Moanalua plays Tsinghua (China) at 9:30 a.m. while Archbishop will take on Wasatch (Mount Pleasant, Utah).

Garfield will play Long Island Lutheran (Brookeville, New York) after five different Bulldogs scored double-digit points in an 81-41 victory over Kaiser. Mario Drummer and Nalu Kanaluu finished with double-digit scoring for the Cougars.

In the nightcap, the Jefferson Democrats took down the Damien Monarchs, 75-49. It was just an eight-point game at halftime before the Democrats pulled away in the second half. Keshawn Hall led with 18 points as three other players put up double-digit points. Kenneth Mitchell Jr. led Damien with 13 points.

The Monarchs will play Mililani while Jefferson will play Mount Vernon (New York).

Thursday night will also feature the annual dunk contest following the conclusion of the slated 8 p.m. matchup.
