Shania Kepoo-Caspino posted eight kills and three aces and host Waianae swept Roosevelt, 25-15, 25-28, 25-23, Wednesday night in the opening round of the Oahu Interscholastic Association Division I girls' volleyball tournament.

The Seariders will take on East second seed Kahuku, 5:30 p.m. Thursday at Mililani High's gym. The West top-seeded Trojans will face Kaiser in the second quarterfinal.

Kaiser swept Aiea 25-23, 25-22, 25-22 in the other first-round match at Waianae Wednesday night. 

The winners of Thursday's quarterfinals will qualify for the Division I state tournament. The losers will advance to the fifth-place semifinals Monday at Kalani. The winners play for fifth place and the OIA's final state berth on Tuesday at Farrington.

After taking a commanding two set lead, the Seariders labored in the third and deciding set against the Rough Riders. Roosevelt led 23-21 before Waianae secured the match with four consecutive points, including an ace by Chevy Wagner and a block for match point. Wagner also had 13 digs. Setter Gabby Canionero had 25 assists.
