Waimea is moving on in the state tournament.

Kaye Serapio scored 23 points and Kierstin Gummerus added 22 more to lead the Menehunes over Waipahu, 59-48, in the first round of the Snapple/HHSAA Division II Girls Basketball Championships Wednesday night at Damien's Bishop Scanlan Gymnasium.

Waimea moves on to face fourth-seeded Hawaii Prep Thursday night at 5:30 p.m.

Anna Penitusi and Mia DePonte each scored 14 points to lead Waipahu in the loss.
