MANOA — Kameron Ng would not be denied on senior night.

The senior guard dropped 40 points in Saint Francis' 70-41 win over its campus neighbor, Mid-Pacific, in an Interscholastic League of Honolulu Division I regular season finale at Saint Francis Gymnasium Saturday.

The fifth-ranked Saints won four of their last six games, including an 84-81 overtime win over Punahou, in the second round of the ILH season to finish 6-6.

"I think we adapted from D2. In the first round, we were used to coming out slow because in D2 we could do that and still come out and win. This year it's a whole different game. We have to be ready from the start and every position counts out there," Kameron Ng said.

"Having one day to get ready is a challenge, but that's what the ILH D1 is all about. It's been fun moving up and playing with the best in the state," Saint Francis coach Ron Durant said.

The 10th-ranked Owls lost their sixth-straight game to finish 3-9.

Kameron Ng is averaging 25.0 points per game and this was the second 40-point game this season, third overall in his career. He scored 42 in a win over Leilehua in the preseason back on Nov. 21.

"I felt a little bit better on my ankle tonight. I was going to go as hard as I could. Since it's senior night, go out with a bang. It was one of my better games," Kameron Ng said.

"Playing at this level validates he is the best player in the state," Durant said. "He is in here shooting every morning and before every practice. He's the first one here and last to leave."

He scored 18 in the first half and 22 in the second and finished 16-of-30 shooting from the field. He was 11 for 12 from inside the arc and 5 of 18 from the three-point line.

"Everyday I get an hour in shooting. The mid-range game is my bread and butter," Kameron Ng said.

The five seniors Jett Tanuvasa, Titus Liu, Konner Uratsuka, Matt Reisert, along with Kameron Ng were honored after the game. The school announced that it will close grades 7–12 at the end of the academic year. Everyone on the Saint Francis roster saw the court.

"Since it's the last year the school is going to be running, it's our last game as seniors. We wanted to give the school something to cheer for," Kameron Ng said. "Our bench guys that didn't really play much, it was great to see them shoot the ball and our football guys were able to score a couple baskets so that was good too."

"We couldn't ask for anything better on a senior night to get everyone playing and finish strong heading into the postseason," Durant said.

Kameron Ng started 0 for 3 from three-point range to start off the game but went 5 for 6 from the field the rest of the quarter for 11 points. The Saints raced out to an 18-0 run with Liu banging in two 3-pointers and Nalu Kalaulu pouring in four in the paint as Saint Francis led, 23-6, after the first period.

Liu had nine points off of three 3's and junior Kordel Ng dished out seven assists.

Lucca Kitashima scored six points off of two 3-pointers to break the Owls' scoring drought after the Mid-Pacific starters combined 0 for 5 from the field shooting. Kitashima finished the game with 17 points and made five 3's off the bench.

"I was surprised, we were firing on all cylinders. Mid-Pacific took good shots but weren't hitting their shots. We were rebounding and we've been stressing it really hard. It's been our weak spot against the Maryknoll and Punahou's," Durant said.

The Saints won the battle on the boards out rebounding the Owls, 39 to 19.

Kitashima hit a 3-pointer to start the second quarter, but Kameron Ng answered with a 3-pointer from the left corner and drained a mid-range jumper. He had 18 points and outscored the entire Mid-Pacific team by halftime as the Saints took a commanding 41-13 lead.

Kameron Ng opened up the third quarter with a basket plus the foul and followed up with another three-point play. He shot 5 of 8 from the field to score 14 of the team's 16 quarter points.

Mid-Pacific's bench scored 36 of the team's 41 points. Aside from Kitashima, Elijah Kahue-Parker added 10 points all in the second half.

Both teams are awaiting official seeding for the ILH postseason tournament starting next week.
