Top-seeded Kamehameha-Kapalama survived three tough sets to sweep Mililani, 25-20, 25-17, 28-26 in the quarterfinals nightcap of the New City Nissan/HHSAA Division I Girls Volleyball State Championships on Thursday at McKinley's Student Council Gymnasium.
The Warriors (11-2), the Interscholastic League of Honolulu champions, advance to face Kapolei at 7 p.m. in the semifinals at McKinley on Friday following Kahuku/Iolani match.
The Warriors hit .135 on the match led by Kili Robins who had 11 kills and 11 digs.
Lexis Akeo passed out 26 assists, an ace, four digs and a block.
Four Kamehameha players recorded double-digit digs: Robins, Keonilei Akana and Kealani Ontai each had 11 and Chloe Akiona-Banan added 10.
Kamehameha had seven aces on the match with two each coming from Keonilei Akana and Maluhia Maa. Akeo had the winning ace just inside the line to clinch the match.
Falanika Danielson led the Trojans with nine kills, 19 digs, Juanita Tuimavave added 15 digs and six block assists as Mililani trailed by as much as five, tied it up three times late in the third set before Kamehameha pulled away.
Mililani drops to the consolation bracket to face Waiakea at Moanalua on Friday.
