AIEA — Pearl City cruised past Aiea, 7-0, in an Oahu Interscholastic Association Western Division contest at Aiea High's field Tuesday night. 

The Chargers now stand at 6-2 and move into second place in the OIA West standings with 18 points. They are currently on a four-game winning streak.

Na Alii suffered their first loss of the season and now are tied in third place with Campbell in the West with a 5-1-2 record.

"This game was a turning point for us," said Pearl City coach Frank Baumholtz. "We knocked them (Aiea) out of second place."

Junior Daelenn Tokunaga, the 2016 ScoringLive All-Hawaii Girls Soccer Offensive Player of the Year, scored the first of her match-high three goals game in the fifth minute after latching onto a long ball from the Pearl City midfield.

"We scored early and worked really hard, said Tokunaga. "We came out hard and we did good." 

Sophomore Sunshine Fontes added a score of her own in the 17th minute to give Pearl City a commanding lead early. 

Tokunaga scored her second goal of the game off of a cross from junior midfielder Reyann Lee in the 39th minute to give the Chargers a 3-0 advantage at halftime.

Pearl City started the second half by scoring within the first few seconds after the whistle blew as Randi Fontes hit a powerful shot into the bottom left corner past the diving Aiea keeper.

Tokunaga would then go on to complete her hat trick in the 44th minute by scoring off a long through ball thanks to Freshmen fullback Alexis Alejo. This is Tokunaga's second hat trick of the season.

"She's a player," Baumholtz said of Tokunaga.

In the 53rd minute, Randi Fontes scored her second goal of the night by lobbing the ball over the Aiea goalie from the edge of the 18-yard box. Her sister, Sunshine, would finish the scoring in the 75th minute off an assist by senior midfielder Bethany Nazareno. 

"The mentality of the team is that it's a team thing," said Baumholtz. "You can't worry about who scores, you just have to score them." 

Both Randi Fontes and Daelenn Tokunaga now lead the West in scoring with 15 goals a piece. Sunshine Fontes now has 10 goals this season.

For Aiea, this was the first game that it was not able to score a goal. 

"Normally we try to possess the ball, but we came out very slow," said Aiea coach Benji Villaflor. "We lacked the discipline that we needed. It all comes down to mentality and attitude."

Next up for Pearl City is an away game at Kapolei on Thursday while Aiea will try to bounce back against Mililani at home on Friday.
