De La Salle beats Waianae with balanced attack, 71-35


 



De Salle (Concord, Calif.) played good team basketball to defeat Waianae, 71-35, in the final opening round game of the 33rd annual Iolani Classic Saturday night at Iolani's Lower Gymnasium.

The Spartans saw 10 players score as they move on to take on Kahuku Monday night in an 8 p.m. quarterfinal contest.

Connor O'Dea scored 14 points with two triples, Emaka Udenyi had 12 more while Colby Orr and Eric Headley each had 11 to round out the Spartans that scored in double figures. Headley also had a solid all-around game with nine rebounds and six steals.

Waianae's Douglas Mitchell led the Seariders in the loss with a game-high 17 points. He also added eight rebounds and four blocked shots.
