HAWAI'I KAI - Running back Jesse Carney broke a state record by rushing for 374 yards and tied another with six rushing touchdowns to help Kalaheo rout Kalani, 59-22, Saturday night at Kaiser Stadium.

Carney, who did his damage with just 15 carries, broke the previous mark of 370 set by Damien's Kama Bailey in 2007 against Pac-Five. Carney's mark also breaks the O'ahu Interscholastic Association mark of 350 set by Kahuku's Mark Atuaia in 1990.

Carney, who scored on runs of 4, 9, 47, 39, 80 and 72 yards, tied the state single-game record for TDs with Kailua's Kekoa Sua (2003), Mililani's Brian Daniels (2000) and 'Iolani's Joe Igber (Damien).

Carney's 72-yard TD put him over the mark for the Mustangs, who rolled up 688 yards in total offense in the O'ahu Interscholastic Association White Conference game.

The Mustangs (3-0 overall, 3-0 White) stormed to a 28-6 lead into the half, when Carney already had four TDs and 209 yards against the Falcons (0-4, 0-3).

Kalaheo QB Justin Pagan rushed for 154 yards and two TDs off option runs. He also was 4 of 7 in passing for 105 yards.

The Falcons totaled 327 yards of offense, mostly from QB Kaau Kuia, who was 24 of 45 for 262 yards and two TDs.
