Melina Souza scored 12 points to help the host Damien defeat visiting Le Jardin, 47-28 in an Interscholastic League of Honolulu Division I contest Tuesday evening.

The Monarchs notched their second straight win to improve to 5-3 in league play and 9-8 overall. Le Jardin, who was coming off a 41-34 win over La Pietra, dropped to 1-7 and 1-8.

Souza, an All-Hawaii Division II first-team selection a season ago, was one of eight players to enter the scoring column for Damien. The Monarchs also had seven players finish with five points or more.

Morgan Pelkey scored seven points to lead the Le Jardin, who shot 2-for-12 from the free throw line.
