The Lakers, ranked third in the latest USA Today Super 25 national rankings, held Guangming to a 24 percent shooting clip (12-for-50 from the field) to start their second appearance in the 16-team tournament with a 41-point win.

Brian Bowen scored a game-high 20 points with nine rebounds to lead the Lakers in the win. Brandon Cyrus added 14 more points and Kelvin Zhang chipped in 10 to round out the players finishing in double figures for the Lakers.

La Lumiere looked the part as the highest ranked team in the tourney when it jumped out to a 23-5 lead on the Dragons after the first quarter. The Lakers converted on 10 of their 19 shot attempts and gathered 19 rebounds alone in the opening period.

Guangming was able to begin the second quarter with a 7-0 run with the Lakers starting the period cold. La Lumiere shook off the slump with a pressurized defense that opened up a handful of fast break opportunities and led 39-19 at the break.

The Lakers broke the game wide open when it held the Dragons without a field goal in the third quarter. La Lumiere outscored Gaungming 21 to 1 in the period thanks to a 16-0 run to begin the second half.
