Led by four players who scored in double figures, Konawaena cruised to a 68-40 win over Punahou in the final day of the Ted Fukushima Girls Basketball Tournament held at Kaiser Gymnasium.

Celena Molina set the tone for Konawaena, scoring all 11 of her points in the first half, making the most of easy opportunities created by Punahou opting to double-team sister, Chanelle.

Ihi Victor had a big second quarter, scoring 7 of the Wildcats' 19 points to help extend to a 33-19 lead at the intermission. She finished with 16.

Reigning All-Hawaii Division I Player of the Year Chanelle Molina, who earlier this month signed with Washington State, took over the scoring duties in the second half, pouring in 10 of her 16 points in the third quarter alone, which included a buzzer-beating triple. Free of the extra defender thrown her way in the first half, Chanelle drove to the basket with much scoring intent in the final two quarters in situations where she had looked for the open teammate in the first half.

The youngest Molina, Cherilyn, led the way in the fourth, closing out her scoring account with two threes to give her eight in the quarter and 16 in the game.

Punahou senior Tyra Moe led the way with 12 points in the loss, and Kamaile Kandiah added 10. Guard Elle Uyeda scored all nine of her points on three-point attempts.

The defending Division I state champion Wildcats won all three games in the preseason invitational, where it topped the 65 point mark in every game and won by an average of 33 points.

Punahou lost by just three points to Lahainaluna and defeated host Kaiser, 59-35, to finish with a 1-2 mark in the tournament.
