Kailua cranked out 11 runs on 11 base hits to stay atop the OIA Red East standings, posting a 11-6 win over Kalani at Kahala Field.

The loss ended a five-game winning streak for the Falcons, marking the first loss Kalani has suffered since March 12, a 2-0 defeat at Kailua.

Brendan Odo's leadoff double in the top of the fourth sparked a four-run spurt, as Kailua (7-2) parlayed an hit batter and an error on the unsuing batter to score one run, then three more runners, two on a single by Awa Byers and the other an RBI base knock by Pilipo Kupahu.

Trailing 11-4 in the last of the seventh, Kalani (6-3) rallied for two runs on a bases-loaded single by Ian Higa with two outs, but Kailua reliever Joey Cantillo struck out Cody Sakamoto to end the threat and the game.

Cantillo came on in the fourth inning for Kailua and allowed two runs on four hits, striking out five and walking 3 to pick up the save. Daniel Thomas pitched 2 innings of one-hit baseball with 2 strikeouts to earn the win.

The Falcons marched five pitchers to the mound in the game, with Matthew Beall picking up the loss.

Odo led the Surfriders offensively with a 2-for-4 day at the plate, both hits for doubles, scoring 2 runs and driving in one.

Kalani's Ryan Sato continued his hot play at the plate, going 2-for-3 with a run and an RBI. Kyle Sasano added a two-run single.
