Top-ranked Punahou to meet fourth-ranked Saint Louis Friday




Two of the state's most prolific offenses will clash Friday night at Hawaiian Airlines Field at Aloha Stadium in the highlight of a week-8 slate of games that spans three days.

Top-ranked Punahou  puts it perfect record on the line against Saint Louis, the No. 4 team in the ScoringLive/OC16 Division I Power Rankings, in the feature game of an Interscholastic League of Honolulu doubleheader in Halawa and the UHA Game of the Week.

Kickoff between the Buffanblu and Crusaders is expected around 7:45 p.m. or 25 minutes after the conclusion of the 5 p.m. game between six-time Division II state champion Iolani and Pac-Five.

A live audio stream of both games will be available on ScoringLive.com and simulcasted on NBC Sports Radio/AM1500.

An Oahu Interscholastic Association doubleheader at Aloha Stadium Thursday kicks off the weekend. McKinley and Kailua will play at 4:30 p.m. and be followed by Red East-unbeatens Kahuku and Farrington at approximately 7 p.m. OC16 will have both games live on TV.


INTERSCHOLASTIC LEAGUE OF HONOLULU
No. 1 Punahou vs. No. 4 Saint Louis, Friday, 7:45 p.m. at Aloha Stadium

The Buffanblu (6-0 overall, 4-0 ILH) remain atop the ScoringLive/OC16 Division I Power Rankings — as they have all season — and are the only undefeated D1 team in the state of Hawaii. Punahou has been blowing out teams, including shutouts in three of the four ILH games it has played. Only once has an opponent scored more than eight points (14 by Mililani in season opener) while the offensive unit averages 37.5 points and 394.3 yards per game. The Crusaders (5-1, 3-1) have the ILH's top passer in Ryder Kuhns (42 of 64, 739 yards, 11 TDs, 4 INTs) and top rusher in Adam Noga (35 rushes, 399 yards, 5 TDs) as the key cogs in an offense that puts up an average of 46.7 points and 456 yards per game.

Iolani vs. Pac-Five, Friday, 5 p.m. at Aloha Stadium

The Raiders (4-4 overall, 2-3 ILH) are coming off a brutal stretch of their schedule that included losses to all three Division-I teams in four weeks. Iolani posted fourth-quarter scores in losses to Kamehameha (38-22) and Saint Louis (49-13), but was shutout 56-0 by rival Punahou on statewide TV for homecoming Saturday. The Wolf Pack (1-5, 1-3) posted 352 yards of total offense, including 228 passing yards and two touchdowns from quarterback Anthony Canencia, in a 37-0 win over Saint Francis Saturday.

Saint Francis at No. 2 Kamehameha, Saturday, 4 p.m. at Kunuiakea Stadium
The Saints (1-5 overall, 0-4 ILH) have been outscored by a margin of 169 to 22 in their four ILH opponents in their inaugural varsity season. The offense is averaging 203.2 yards per game, but just 10.7 points while the defensive is giving up 39 points and 298 yards per game. The Warriors (6-1, 3-1) were idle last week after a 41-7 drubbing of Division-II Pac-Five. Running backs Brandon Kahookele (60 rush-386 yds.-4 TDs) and Kainoa Simao (53-357-3) are second and third in rushing yards in the ILH, respectively.

OAHU INTERSCHOLASTIC ASSOCIATION
RED EAST CONFERENCE
McKinley vs. Kailua, Thursday, 4:30 p.m. at Aloha Stadium (TV: OC16)
The Tigers (3-4 overall, 2-3 OIA Red East) and Surfriders (2-5, 2-3) are tied for fourth in the Red East going into the game. McKinley, which sat in sole possession of first place after two weeks of league play, has lost three straight since. The Tigers, who are led in scoring by running back/linebacker Mathias Tuitele-Iafeta's 56 points, had a bye last week. Kailua fell behind 28-0 en route to a 49-17 home loss to Kahuku Friday. The Surfriders were held to minus-12 rushing yards by the Red Raiders. Kailua is surrendering a woeful 38.3 points and 352 yards per game defensively.

No. 5 Kahuku vs. No. 9 Farrington, Thursday, 7 p.m. at Aloha Stadium (TV: OC16)
The Red Raiders (5-2 overall, 5-0 OIA Red East) and Governors (5-2, 5-0) have already clinched first-round byes in the OIA Red Tournament; the winner of this game will get the Red East's top seed. Kahuku has won four straight decisions since returning from a 38-15 loss at Utah's East High (Salt Lake City) back on Aug. 31. Quarterback Tuli Wily-Matagi has thrown for 405 yards and six touchdowns against one interception in the Red Raiders' past two games. Farrington has reeled off five straight wins and has the Red Conference's top rusher in Sanele Lavatai (80 rushes, 625 yards, 9 touchdowns).

Castle vs. Kaimuki, Friday, 7:30 p.m. at Kaiser Stadium
The Knights (2-5 overall, 1-4 OIA Red East) and Bulldogs (1-6, 0-5) are playing for the final spot up for grabs in the 12-team OIA Red Tournament. Castle lost at Moanalua Friday, 39-14, and has dropped four of its last five games. The lone league win came on Sept. 6 in a 21-7 upset over McKinley. Kaimuki trails Castle by one game entering the game. The Bulldogs have been outscored 214 to 80 during their current six-game losing streak.

RED WEST CONFERENCE
No. 8 Kapolei at No. 7 Campbell, Friday, 7 p.m.  (TV: OC16)
The Hurricanes (5-2 overall, 3-2 OIA Red West) and Sabers (5-2, 3-2) are tied for third place in the Red West. Kapolei was defeated at Waianae Friday, 35-27, to snap a three-game win streak. The Hurricanes rushed for 189 yards, but passed for just 27 and allowed 345 yards and 28 first-half points by the Seariders. Campbell held onto the perpetual Cane Knife with its 35-14 win over Waipahu Friday. Quarterback Isaac Hurd completed 25 of 33 passes for 347 yards with five touchdowns and one interception. If Kapolei wins, it will be the third seed behind Waianae. If Campbell wins, it will be the second seed.

Leilehua at Waipahu, Friday, 7:30 p.m. at Masa Yonamine Athletic Complex
The Mules (4-3 overall, 2-3 OIA Red West) have lost three of their last four games and enter the weekend in fifth place — one game ahead of the Marauders (2-5, 1-4), losers of two straight. Both defense are given up big numbers this season. Leilehua allows 29 points and 313 yards per game while Waipahu gives up 32.4 points and 325.7 yards each time out. The Mules' offense, however, is averaging 35.9 points and 357.1 yards per game while the Marauders' offense averages 237 yards, but just 13 points per game.

Aiea at No. 3 Mililani, Friday, 7:30 p.m. at John Kauinana Stadium
Na Alii (2-5 overall, 0-5 OIA Red West) are the only team (of 14) in the OIA Red that enter the weekend eliminated from playoff contention. Aiea had lost five straight games since a 2-0 non-league start and is coming off a bye week. The Trojans (6-1, 5-0) have clinched the top seed out of the Red West. They have won five straight games and hammered Leilehua, 44-14, Friday. Running back Vavae Malepeai ran in three touchdowns and safety Ian Namu had two of the defense's three picks in the game.

WHITE CONFERENCE
Nanakuli vs. Kalaheo, Friday, 7:30 p.m. at Kailua
The Golden Hawks (2-5 overall, 2-4 OIA White) and Mustangs (2-5, 2-4) are both eliminated from contention for the four-team OIA White Tournament. Nanakuli has lost three straight, including a 35-12 home loss to Pearl City Friday. Wide receiver Naliko Kea caught a pair of first-half touchdown passes from quarterback Chazz Troutman in the loss. Kalaheo got off to a promising 2-0 start to league play, but has lost four straight since and still has a road date at Kaiser to end the season next week.

Radford at Roosevelt, Friday, 7:30 p.m. at Ticky Vasconcellos Stadium
The Rams (6-1 overall, 5-1 OIA White) enter the weekend tied with Pearl City for second place and as winners of their last three games. Radford — ranked fourth in the D2 Power Rankings — leads D2 in total offense (3,144 yards) and touchdowns (46) behind quarterback Cody Lui-Yuen's 2,051 pass yards and 26 pass TDs. The receiving duo of Absolom Henry (32 rec.-586 yds.-8 TDs) and Jameson Pasigan (34-564-10) rank second and third, respectively in the OIA White in receiving yards. The Rough Riders (1-7, 1-6) have been shutout in their past two games by a combined 108 to 0.

Waialua vs. Anuenue, Saturday, 5 p.m. at Kaiser Stadium
The Bulldogs (2-5 overall, 2-4 OIA White) and Na Koa (0-7, 0-6) are eliminated from the postseason. Waialua shutout Kalaheo, 32-0, Friday to end a three-game skid. Quarterback Taleon Lele rushed for game-highs of 121 yards and two touchdowns on 18 carries and running back Xavier Repollo added 103 yards on 11 rushes. The defense did not allowed any passing yards by the Mustangs and intercepted two passes. Anuenue lost to Kalani, 60-6, a week after forfeiting to first-place Kaiser.

Kaiser at Pearl City, Friday, 7:30 p.m. at Bino Nieves Stadium
The Cougars (6-1 overall, 6-0 OIA White) have scored at least 70 points in their last two contested games. Kaiser has outscored opponents 309 to 47 in six league games and is averaging 45.1 points and 353.5 yards per game offensively, while allowing 9.7 points and 146.7 yards per game defensively. The Chargers (5-2, 5-1) have reeled off five straight and are fresh off a 35-12 road win at Nanakuli Friday. Running back Reno Abero ran for two touchdowns and 86 of his team's 201 rushing yards. Pearl City is No. 9 in the SL/OC16 D2 Power Rankings, while Kaiser is No. 2.

BIG ISLAND INTERSCHOLASTIC FEDERATION
Hawaii Prep at Kamehameha-Hawaii, Friday, 7 p.m. at Paiea Stadium
It is the second straight week that Ka Makani (5-2 overall, 3-2 BIIF) will be making the trip down the Hamakua Coast for a road game in Keaau. Six days after a 28-0 shutout at Division-I Keaau, HPA visits Kamehameha-Hawaii in a battle of second-place D2 teams. The Warriors (4-3, 3-2) trounced Honokaa, 41-0, last week and have won three of their last four games. Senior kicker/wide receiver Logan Uyetake has accounted for a team-high 51 points, more than half of his team's scoring.

Hilo at Konawaena, Friday, 7:30 p.m. at Julian Yates Field
The Vikings (6-1 overall, 5-0 BIIF) are winners of their last five games and sit in first place in the Division I standings. Hilo's lone loss of the season came back on Aug. 23 in a non-league game against Konawaena at Francis Wong Stadium. The Vikings have won five straight since the 38-24 loss to the Wildcats (6-1, 5-0), who are sixth in the SL/OC16 D2 Power Rankings and first place in the league D2 standings. Konawaena has won six in a row, including a 44-7 win over Waiakea Friday.

Honokaa at Keaau, Saturday, 2 p.m.
The Dragons (0-6 overall, 0-5 BIIF) have found the going rough in 2013, having been shutout in their last five games — all league contests. They are coming off a 41-0 home loss to Kamehameha-Hawaii Friday and have been outscored by opponents 250 to 15. The Cougars (0-5, 0-5) are the other winless team on the Big Island and are coming off being shutout 28-0 at Hawaii Prep Saturday afternoon.

Waiakea at Kealakehe, Saturday, 7:30 p.m.
The Warriors (3-5 overall, 2-3 BIIF) and Waveriders (2-4, 2-3) enter the weekend tied for second in the four-team BIIF D1 race. Waiakea has lost three of its last four games, including a 44-7 rout at Konawaena Friday. The offense turned it over on four interceptions and the defense allowed 330 yards by the Wildcats. Kealakehe has also lost three of its last four games and is coming off a 6-3 loss to first-place Hilo Saturday.

MAUI INTERSCHOLASTIC LEAGUE
Baldwin at Kamehameha-Maui, Friday, 7 p.m.
The Bears (4-3 overall, 4-1 MIL) defeated Maui, 7-0, on a 55-yard, fourth-quarter touchdown pass from Jeremiah Badillo to Kawelakeapono Kaeo-Mata, who finished with 11 receptions for 134 yards. Baldwin holds a two-game lead on Maui in the MIL's D1 race and have won three of its last four games, including two straight. The Warriors (1-5, 1-4) amassed 394 yards of total offense last week, but were defeated 36-31 at King Kekaulike, for their fourth consecutive loss.

Lahainaluna at King Kekaulike, Saturday, 7 p.m.
The Lunas (6-0 overall, 4-0 MIL), the No. 1-ranked team in the SL/OC16 D2 Power Rankings, were idle last week and have won by at least three touchdowns in five straight games. Running backs Christian Whitehead (65 rushes-538 yards-9 TDs) and Jared Rocha-Isalas (57-504-7), along with quarterback Makoa Filikitonga (53-482-6) have helped Lahainaluna rack up a state-leading 1,988 rushing yards. Na Alii (1-4, 1-4) beat Kamehameha-Maui, 36-31, last week for its first win.

KAUAI INTERSCHOLASTIC FEDERATION
Waimea vs. Kauai, Saturday, 2:30 p.m. at Vidinha Stadium
The Menehunes (1-5 overall, 0-3 KIF) have lost their last five games and have been outscored 112 to 21 during that stretch, including three shutouts. Waimea, which is in last place, last played in a 28-0 loss to Kapaa before a bye last week. Conversely, the Red Raiders (5-0, 3-0) are in first place and No. 5 in this week's SL/OC16 D2 Power Rankings following a 7-6 win over Kapaa Saturday. Reggie McFadden scored on a 1-yard run and Pono Bukoski made the deciding extra point for Kauai.
