'Iolani, Mid-Pacific top seeds for girls' soccer tourneys


'Iolani is the top seed for the Outrigger Hotels & Resorts Division I girls' soccer state tournament, which opens Wednesday at Waipio Peninsula Soccer Park.

The Raiders are seeking their first title since 1999. The most recent champion in the tournament is Interscholastic League of Honolulu runner-up Punahou, which won in 2011. The Buffanblu have a record 11 titles.

Second-seeded Mililani is looking for its first crown since 2002.

In Division II, top-seeded Mid-Pacific is looking for its third consecutive championship. Big Island Interscholastic Federation runner-up Kamehameha-Hawaii is the only other team in the field that has won a title (2008).
