J. Botelho 13 pts  3/4 FTs

Iolani rallied from an early first quarter deficit to roll Mid-Pacific, 70-46.

The Raiders improved to 2-1 in ILH D1 girls basketball play, while the Owls are dropped to 1-3.

Iolani played a balanced game and spread the ball well, as five players were able to score in double-figures. Jade Botelho led the Raiders with 13 points. Kiki Robertson led all scorers with 24 points in a losing effort for Mid-Pacific.

This ILH matchup was originally supposed to be played at Mid-Pacific's campus at 6:00 p.m. but was moved to Iolani at 7:30 p.m. due to safety concerns.

Botelho hit a jumper near the free-throw line for Iolani for the first points of the game but the Owls quickly went on a 10-0 run to jump out to an early 10-2 lead. Iolani battled back as Abrianna Johnson-Edwards hit a trey near the end of the quarter to cut the deficit to four.

At the end of the first quarter Mid-Pac led Iolani, 18-14. Robertson scored 13 of her 24 points in the period.

The second quarter was all Iolani.

Raiders scored 24 points in the quarter while preventing the Owls from making any field goals. Mid-Pac's 6 points in the quarter all came from free throws.

Iolani also turned up their defensive intensity as they pressured the Owls on inbound passes. This resulted in a lot of turnovers for Mid-Pac as they committed nine in the 2nd quarter while Iolani only committed one.

The Raiders made back-to-back three-pointers to start the quarter with Johnson-Edwards trey giving the Raiders a 22-18 lead they would not relinquish.

Things also got tougher for the Owls when leading scorer Kiki Robertson had to sit because of foul trouble. Robertson came out of the game with her 3rd foul while there was still 5:44 remaining in the first half. Owls trailed 19-22 at the point.

Iolani was able to take advantage with Robertson on the bench, outscoring Mid-Pac 16-5 the rest of the way.

The Raiders led 38-24, at halftime.

Iolani will face Punahou (1-2 ILH D1) next week Tuesday at 6:30 p.m., while Mid-Pacific will travel to undefeated Kamehameha (3-0) next week Wednesday for a 6:30 p.m. game.
