Elli Brady won the girls race and led three of her Punahou teammates into the top 10, helping the Buffanblu win the title at Saturday's Honolulu Marathon Cross Country Invitational.
Brady finished the 3-mile course at Kaiser High School in 19 minutes, 7.10 seconds. Younger sister Teri Brady was fourth in 19:39.80, followed by Melissa Wong (eighth, 20:11.05) and Noe Lum (10th, 20:16.50). Punahou won the team title with 31 points and Kamehameha was second with 83, led by Hi'i Ellis' second-place finish (19:25.90).
Leilehua's Christopher Olverson edged Kamehameha's Davis Kaahanui for the boys title. Olverson finished the 3-mile race in 16:09.40 and Kaahanui was second in 16:11.20. Iolani placed three runners in the top 30 to win the boys team title with 104 points. Moanalua was second with 135.
The meet is the biggest in the state with over 1,000 runners competing in intermediate, junior varsity, and varsity divisions.
