Two non-league games canceled

The Maui Interscholastic League announced the cancelation of two non-league football games set for Aug. 11.

Roosevelt coach Jeff Azuma confirmed he initiated the cancelation of his team's game against King Kekaulike, citing not having enough players because of academic eligibility issues.  He said King Kekaulike will travel to Oahu for a control scrimmage against the Rough Riders.

Honoka'a coach Bobby Embernate said not enough of his players had been cleared for playing in time for the Kamehameha-Maui game because they did not have their physical examinations. He said only 12 players had their physicals done in time to play on that date.
