Kailua, Waimea top seeds in state baseball tourney


OIA champion Kailua was named top seed for next week's Wally Yonamine Foundation Division I Baseball State Championship.

Mid-Pacific was named the second-seed, with BIIF champion Waiakea seed third and MIL champ Baldwin fourth.

In opening round games Punahou will take on Hilo for the right to take on Kailua, the winner of Kamehameha-Kapalama and Kaiser will draw Baldwin, defending state champ Pearl City and Maui will face off with the winner taking on Mid-Pacific, and the winner of Moanalua-Castle will match up with Waiakea.

In the Division II tournament, top seed Waimea will draw Waialua, second seed Waipahu will take on Konawaena, third seed Seabury Hall matches up with Maryknoll, and fourth seeded Kamehameha-Hawaii will face Kalaheo.
