Komoto wins individual title; 'Iolani tops team standings


Punahou junior Kacie Komoto shot a 2-under-par 71 on the final day to edge Day 1 leader and 'Iolani freshman Rose Huang, to win the individual title of the 2012 David S. Ishii Foundation Girls Golf State Championships at Wailua Golf Course on Kauai.

Komoto ended the two-day tournament with a total score of 145, finishing ahead of Huang by a mere stroke. Defending champion Emi Koga of Moanalua finished third, four strokes back.

In team competition, 'Iolani held on to yesterday's 7-stroke lead, shooting even with runner-up Punahou in the second round of competition.

The Raiders finished with a 36-hole grand total of 454, followed by Punahou School (461) and Waiakea (462).
