Mililani, Honoka'a awarded No. 1 seeds for boys soccer


Mililani was awarded the No. 1 seed for Division I and Honoka'a is the top seed for DII in the Outrigger Hotels & Resorts/Hawai'i High School Athletic Association Boys Soccer State Championships.

The 12-team DI tournament begins on Wednesday at Waipi'o Peninsula Soccer Complex; the eight-team DII tourney starts on Thursday.

Mililani, is the O'ahu Interscholastic Association champ; Honoka'a won the Big Island Interscholastic Federation Division II title.

Interscholastic League of Honolulu champion Punahou, which won the past two DI state crowns, is seeded No. 2, followed by Maui Interscholastic League champ Baldwin and BIIF DI winner Kealakehe.

The four seeded teams in Division I will receive first-round byes.

In Division II, Kaua'i Interscholastic Federation champion Kapa'a is the No. 2 seed, followed by OIA White Conference winner Kahuku and MIL DII champ Seabury Hall.
