OIA girls soccer tournament starts Tuesday


Western Division champion Mililani and Eastern Division champion Kaiser head the Oahu Interscholastic Association Red girls' soccer tournament, which opens Tuesday.

As top seeds, the Trojans and Cougars, as well as division runners-up Kapolei (West) and Moanalua (East), draw first-round byes.

In Tuesday's first round at Pearl City, Kahuku plays Campbell at 5:30 p.m. with the host Chargers taking on Roosevelt at 7 p.m.

At Waianae, Castle plays Aiea at 5:30 p.m. and the Seariders play Kailua at 7 p.m.

In quarterfinals on Wednesday, Mililani will play the winner of Kahuku-Campbell at 5:30 p.m. and Moanalua will play the winner of Pearl City-Roosevelt at 7 p.m.

Although Mililani is seeded higher, its field is unavailable because construction of a new turf.

In quarterfinals at Kaiser, Kapolei will play the winner of Castle-Aiea at 5:30 p.m. and Kaiser will play the winner of Waianae-Kailua at 7 p.m.

The semfinals and championship will be held at Kapolei, Thursday and Friday, respectively.

Third- and fifth-place matches will be held at Pearl City's Bino Neves Stadium on Friday.

The top six teams qualify for the Division I state tournament.

The six-team White tournament also opens Tuesday with a doubleheader at Radford's John Velasco Stadium.

McKinley takes on Leilehua at 5:30 p.m. and Radford plays Farrington at 7 p.m.

In Wednesday's semifinals at Waipahu, Kalaheo will play the winner of Radford-Farrington at 5:30 p.m. and Waipahu will battle the winner of McKinley-Leilehua at 7 p.m.

The White championship is set for 5:30 p.m. Friday at Kapolei. The third-place game will be played 4 p.m. Thursday at Pearl City.

The top four teams qualify for the Division II state tournament.
