HUB Goodwill Senior Bowl set for Friday

Although he won't be able to play, Damien senior quarterback Alan Mohika will be an honorary member of the West squad in Friday's HUB Goodwill Senior Bowl.

Kickoff is 7 p.m. at Radford's John Velasco Stadium.

West coach Fred Salanoa of Radford said Mohika will serve an honorary role with the team. Mohika suffered a concussion in a game earlier in the season that required hospitalization.

Still, the West will be armed with Leilehua QB Kenan Sadanaga. He will be backed by his true backup, Jeremiah Andrade, whose primary position is wide receiver, Salanoa said.

The annual game features players from the Oahu Interscholastic Association and Interscholastic League of Honolulu.

The West squad has players from the OIA West, plus players from
Damien, Kamehameha and Punahou.

The East squad has players from the OIA East schools plus, Iolani, Pac-Five and Saint Louis.

The West team features two of the OIA Red West's top all-stars. Sadanaga was recently named Offensive Player of the Year. Campbell linebacker Giovanni Stevenson was named the Defensive Player of the Year.

The East doesn't have such luxury because its Red East Players of the Year are juniors and won't be eligible to play until next year. However, the East will have OIA White Defensive Player of the Year Siaosi Hala'api'api.

Kaimuki's Clint Onigama will coach the East squad.

The game allows players who faced each other to play on the same team. Friendships are lasting, Salanoa told his West squad at Monday night's workout. Salanoa played in the BTC in 1995.
