Micah Christenson scored a game game-high 21 points and reserve Frank Ho followed with 16 and Kamehameha removed its rear-view mirror in an 86-38 thumping of Baldwin Wednesday night in a opening-round game of the Hawaiian Airlines Division I boys' basketball tournament at Farrington's Richard S. Kitamura Memorial Fieldhouse.

The Kapalama Warriors will play third-seeded and Big Island champion Kamehameha in a quarterfinal at 5 p.m. at Farrington.

Baldwin took a 2-0 lead that lasted about 20 seconds before Kamehameha turned up the heat with its pressure defense and quick transition game to take a commanding 23-6 lead after the first quarter. It was 50-14 at the half.

The Warriors started pulling their starters with 5:16 left in the third quarter. But it didn't slow the Warriors down much, as the reserves continued the barrage against the Bears.

Kamehameha made 12 3-pointers, four from Ho.

Gabe Ross had 12 points for the Bears, who will play Roosevelt at 3 p.m. Thursday in the consolation bracket.
