'Iolani sophomore quarterbacks Josiah Situmeang and Reece Foy combined to complete 15 of 28 passes for 201 yards and two touchdowns without an interception last night as the Raiders rolled past Waialua, 37-7, in the feature game of the Father Bray Classic doubleheader at Aloha Stadium.

It was the nonleague opener for both teams.

Situmeang and Foy both played on 'Iolani's intermediate team last year; Foy was the starting quarterback and Situmeang was a starting linebacker and backup quarterback. They are fighting for the job to replace graduated two-year starter Jarrett Arakawa, a Honolulu Advertiser Division II All-State selection.

Situmeang started last night and completed 8 of 18 passes for 129 yards and two touchdowns, and Foy completed 7 of 10 passes for 72 yards. Raiders coach Wendell Look said he has not yet decided which one will be the permanent starter.

"They both played well," Look said. "We're not just looking at stats, we're looking at how well they make decisions, what kind of presence they have out there. Josiah reminds us of (former Raiders All-State quarterback) Kiran Kepo'o, with his demeanor and personality. Reece is kind of like (former 'Iolani All-State qb/cornerback) Kela (Marciel). He's a gunslinger ... very athletic and can make things happen."

Last year's backup, Josh Hannum, has moved to defensive line.

After the 'Iolani offense started slowly with two three-and-out series, the Raiders pounced on a Bulldogs mistake when a bad punt snap resulted in Kyle Michael being tackled in the end zone for a safety with 2:58 remaining in the first quarter. Five plays after the free kick, Situmeang found Josiah Sukumaran in the back of the end zone for a 26-yard TD pass on third-and-11.

Jordan Lee's extra point made it 9-0 with 27 seconds left in the quarter.

'Iolani capitalized on another Waialua mistake midway through the second quarter, when Dylan Goto recovered a fumble at the Bulldogs' 15. Ammon Baldomero ran it in from four yards out two plays later to help the Raiders make it 16-0.

Foy entered the game after a Bulldogs' three-and-out and guided 'Iolani on a nine-play, 54-yard drive culminating in Lee's 2-yard touchdown run nine seconds before halftime, as the Raiders took a 23-0 lead into the locker room.

Situmeang started the second half and helped 'Iolani march 79 yards in just seven plays on the opening drive, capped by a 12-yard TD pass to Sukumaran. Lee's PAT made it 30-0.

Later in the third quarter, the Raiders sealed the game and started a running clock after Trey Muraoka recovered a fumbled punt return and Baldomero scored two plays later on a 35-yard scamper.
