Red quarters, White semis set for this weekend


The O'ahu Interscholastic Association Red tournament continues this weekend with quarterfinal action at various sites.

On Friday, East top seed Kahuku will host West fourth seed Radford, East second seed Kailua will host West third seed Wai'anae and West top seed Mililani will host Farrington.

The Wai'anae-Kailua game will be broadcast on OC16.

On Saturday, West second seed Leilehua will host East third seed Castle at 7 p.m. The game will be televised by OC16.

The quarterfinals winners advance to the OIA semifinals Oct. 29 at Aloha Stadium. The winners advance to the OIA championship Nov. 5 at Aloha Stadium. The teams advancing to the title game earn Division I state tournament berths. The losers advance to the third-place game on Nov. 6 at a site to be determined for the OIA's third and final state berth.

In the four-team OIA White semifinals, top seeded Kaimuki will play fourth-seeded Pearl City Friday at Kaiser stadium. The other semifinal will have Kalaheo traveling to Waipahu on Saturday.

The winners automatically earn Division II state tournament berths.

Radford vs. Kahuku (varsity), 20 minutes after end of JV game

At Kailua

Kapolei vs. Kailua (JV), 4:30 p.m.
Wai'anae vs. Kailua (varsity), 7:30 p.m. on OC16

At Mililani

Farrington vs. Leilehua (JV), 5 p.m.
Farrington vs. Mililani (varsity), 20 minutes after end of JV game

At Kaiser

Pearl City vs. Kaimuki (varsity), 20 minutes after end of JV game
Note: JV matchup TBA pending coin toss


Saturday's schedule

Castle at Leilehua (varsity), 7 p.m. on OC16

Moanalua at Campbell (JV), 2 p.m.

Kalaheo at Waipahu (varsity), 20 minutes after end of JV game
