Free throws and defense won the game for visiting Maryknoll Saturday afternoon.

The Spartans knocked down 22 of 29 free throws and pulled away in the final three quarters to top Iolani in a 43-22 win in ILH Division I play.

Maryknoll (6-0 league) led 14-12 after the first period, but held the Raiders (5-2) to just 10 points the rest of the way, which included a scoreless third quarter.

Ciera Tugade-Agasiva led the way for the Spartans with 15 points. She did most of her damage at the free throw line, shooting 13-for-15 at the stripe.

Madison Guillermo followed with 10 points and a made triple and Taimane Faleafine-Auwae registered nine points to round out the leading scorers for Maryknoll.

Mele Sake scored seven and Callie Pieper had six to lead Iolani in the loss.

The Raiders were 3-for-12 from the free throw line.
