Final 1 2 3 4 T
Pearl City (7-3-0) 0 14 7 627
Kaiser (6-5-0) 0 7 0 1421
Easton Yoshino 369 yd 2 TD
Trey Dacoscos 223 yd 3 TD
Kai Strawn 33 yd 1 TD
Donovan Reis 171 yd 2 TD
Bradley Kansou 125 yd 2 TD

Trey Dacoscos threw three touchdowns passes, including two in the second half despite being hobbled by an apparent leg injury, and Pearl City survived a last gasp surge by Kaiser in the closing moments to hold on for a 27-21 victory on the Cougars' homecoming night.

"I just knew the team needed me," said Dacoscos. "So I just had to push through the pain because my boys needed me, and we came out of here with the dub."

"He is one a kind, can't ask for anything more from a quarterback," said Shyne Kalilikane-Mcmoore of the effort put in by Dacoscos. "He just tries his best on and off the field."

Pearl City took what appeared to be a commanding 27-7 lead with 6:34 left in the contest, as Dacoscos found Koalii Torres on an eight yard pass for a touchdown, the second one for him in the game.

"I saw man (coverage) and ran a wheel route," explained Dacoscos. "So our slant guy rubs off  the linebacker and once I saw him burn the backer I just tossed it up and Koa made a play."

But Kaiser suddenly its groove, as Easton Yoshino found Donovan Reis on a 21 yard pass play to give the home team a sliver of hope with 2:40 remaining. Then on the enusing kickoff, the Cougars were able to secure the onside kick and got the ball back on it own 49 yard line.

On the very next play, it was Yoshino to Reis again, this time from 49 yards out for another score, and all of a sudden, its a 6 point game with 2:28 to go.

Pearl City had a chance to put the game on ice on the ensuing possession, but came up short on a third and five play and punted the ball away with 32 seconds left in the game.

Yoshino found Rayne Sumida for a 17 yard completion and then Kai Blackston for 13 yards on a fourth and 10 play to give the Cougars one last shot with just seconds left in the contest.

That set up the final play of the game, where Yoshino was able to hit Reis in stride and the chase was on, but unfortunately for the home faithful, Shyne Kalilikane-Mcmoore wasn't about to let the comeback bid come to fruition.

"I just caught him in stride, had to do a diving tackle and just made the play thanks to God," said Kalilikane-Mcmoore.

Reis had a monster night, hauling in 11 passes for 171 yards and two scores. On the other side of the ball, Bradley Kansou had a game-high 125 yards receiving and two scores of his own.

Dacoscos completed 20 of 29 passes for 223 yards, while Yoshino hit on 32 of 52 pass attempts for 369 yards. Three interceptions, two by Taohi-John Williams and the other Zadrin Kaulia, definitely hurt.

Williams had a huge game defensively for the Chargers, racking up 14 total tackles as well. Kalilikane-Mcmoore had eight tackles of his own, but none bigger than the game-saving one.

"This was a big win, but we just gotta focus on one game at a time, and Nanakuli is next," said Dacoscos.
