ILH athletic directors approve revised football schedule

Athletic directors from the Interscholastic League of Honolulu passed a revised football schedule on Monday.

ILH football coordinator Wendell Look, who is also an AD and football coach at Iolani, disseminated the league schedule via email, just hours after the group approved it.

The three Open Division teams — Kamehameha, Punahou and Saint Louis — will play each other twice for a total of four games per team.

There will be five teams lumped together for the Division I and II schedule: Iolani, Damien, PAC-5, Kamehameha II and Saint Louis II. The Raiders, Monarchs and Wolfpack will play each other twice and face both Kamehameha II and Saint Louis II once. The Warriors' and Crusaders' D2 teams will play each other twice.

The league schedule gets underway with three games on Friday, Aug. 27. Damien will visit Iolani at 3:15 p.m., while there will be a doubleheader at Aloha Stadium featuring Saint Louis II and PAC-5 facing at 5 p.m., followed by Punahou and Kamehameha at 7:30 p.m.

ILH champions will be crowned on Oct. 16 in Division I and Oct. 23 in the Open Division. The schedule is subject to change.

At this time the league has not made an announcement on allowing spectators at games.

The prep football season was originally scheduled to start on Aug. 6, but has been pushed back after the Hawaii Department of Education announced a pause of more than seven weeks on all extracurricular activities, including athletics, for all public school students.

The HHSAA on Friday approved a modified start-date calendar that allows for league and state championships in every sport.
