Roosevelt blitzes Mililani to extend win streak

KAIMUKI — The Rough Riders were up, down and all over the pool Wednesday afternoon as they extended their win streak to five games after blitzing through Mililani, 13-3, in an Oahu Interscholastic Association matchup at Kaimuki High School.

Lauren Croll doubled her season total with four goals and got the scoring started just over a minute into the game.

Margaret Lonborg and Princess Gimeno each netted hat tricks while Hailey Oyadomari added a pair of goals. Emiko Tajima had the remaining score to help the Rough Riders improve to 9-1.

Roosevelt jumped out to a 3-0 lead before Mililani responded on Maysa Segovia's lob over the goalkeeper in a man-up situation. The Rough Riders then scored five-straight goals before Mililani's Leilani Hernandez hit the back of the net from deep downtown to make it an 8-2 game at halftime.

Roosevelt again scored five-consecutive goals in the third period, and Mililani's Madison Yamada closed out the scoring in the fourth quarter off a rebounded-save and splashed it in the net for the final arithmetic of 13-3.

The Trojans (4-6) finish up the regular season next Wednesday against Moanalua (7-4) while the Rough Riders close out with Campbell (5-4) and Kahuku (9-0).
