PEARL CITY — Nicole Olanda celebrated her 17th birthday in style Friday night.

The Aiea senior scored the game-winning goal in the 27th minute to help Na Alii get their first win over Pearl City since 2013 with a 1-0 win at Bino Neves Stadium.

Aiea improved to 2-1 in OIA West play while the Chargers (3-1) suffered their first loss of the year after outscoring their last three opponents 28-0.

"We're moving in a positive direction," said Aiea coach Benji Villaflor. "This is actually a confidence booster because all the games that we had prior to this was against Nanakuli, Mililani in the season opener, and we scrimmaged Iolani, but it wasn't enough for us to get to a high-caliber of play. This is definitely one big step for us."

Olanda, who will play collegiately at Utah Valley University, scored her fourth goal of the season after receiving a throw-in from Lexis Canyete-Asato. Her first shot was headed back by a Pearl City defender, but Olanda was able to get her second attempt over keeper Naomi Takata to give Na Alii the lead.

"We prep for all our games and it finally showed that our hard work paid off," said Olanda. "If we work as a team and we all want the same goals and our heads are on the same page, we can achieve anything."

Na Alii hosts Kapolei (3-1) next Tuesday while the Chargers have a full week off before taking on three-time defending OIA Division I champ Mililani (2-0-1).
