Waianae grinds out 29-10 win over Kapolei

Led by Jaylen Mitchell and Puletua Wilson, Waianae racked up 227 yards of rushing and 4 touchdowns in a 29-10 victory over the Kapolei Hurricanes in front of a statewide audience on OC16.

Bryson Panui's 3-yard touchdown run put Waianae up early, 7-0, and Puletua Wilson added 2 more touchdown runs of 4 and 10 yards to give the Seariders a 19-0 lead. But Kapolei countered with 10 straight points before intermission to bring the Hurricanes back to 19-10.

Jaylen Mitchell's 77-yard touchdown scamper in the fourth quarter proved to be the difference, and Shaughn Spencer added a 10-yard field goal to extend the lead to 29-10. Mitchell finished the night with 129 yards and a touchdown on just 9 carries.

Kapolei racked up 301 yards of rushing, led by Seth Roman's 117 yards on 22 carries, and Keaka Fernandez, who added 113 yards and a touchdown on 13 attempts.
