SALT LAKE— Senior quarterback Alakai Yuen accounted for four total TDs to help rally Moanalua past Aiea, 25-6 in an Oahu Interscholastic Association Blue Division regular season finale at Moanalua on Friday night.

"It's do or die now. It's a great position to be in, but we have to play clean football from here on out. We cannot have mishaps," said Moanalua coach Savaii Eselu.

"We had a lot of mistakes in the beginning. We picked it up at the end of the second quarter to get momentum," said Yuen.

The opponents for Aiea and Moanalua hinges on the outcome of the Castle/Kailua game on Saturday Oct. 1. If the Surfriders beat the Knights, Kailua will clinch the fourth seed and Leilehua will be the fifth seed from the Red. If Castle wins, the Knights claim the fifth seed, the Mules will be the fourth seed and the Surfriders will be the sixth seed.

The Na Menehune (4-4 overall, 3-4 league) snap a two-game losing streak to get the Blue Division's fourth seed and will host the first round in the OIA Division I playoffs against the Red Division's fifth seed. The Na Alii (3-5 overall, 3-4 league) will claim the Blue's fifth seed and will travel to play the fourth seed from the Red Division.

Aiea gift-wrapped good field position to Moanalua on short punts, but the Na Menehune could not capitalize as they went 0-for-4 on fourth down conversions on the night. The Na Alii did not fair better as they went 1-for-4.

"Offensively, we were bad where it wasn't clicking. A good portion is not a push over, but we had stuff wide open or we had the right reads, but not making the right reads," said Eselu.

"It's hard when you have opportunities. I told the kids they controlled their own destiny and we had chances, but we cannot just leave it up to the defense," said Aiea coach Wendell Say.

Yuen went 23 of 40 for 257 yards and two TDs and one interception. Miguel caught a game-high six passes for 120 yards to haul in both of Yuen's TDs. Yuen rushed for two scores and Kea Rodrigues rushed for 84 yards on 10 attempts.

"I was trying to spread the ball a lot and I seen Rylan open on the curl routes and took advantage of it because they were double teaming Ryan (Ramones)," said Yuen.

"We were in a position where we could stop him (Yuen), but he's a good runner. He broke contain so many times and they take the inside, but he goes out. It's tough to tell them what to do, but when you face the real thing," said Say.

Kobe Kato threw a 61-yard TD to Gage Asing, but Kato missed the PAT to make it, 6-0 with 2:57 left in the second quarter. Kato had a 31-yard field goal attempt that was no good late in the first quarter.

Kato finished the game 25 of 41 for 202 passing yards with his only TD to Asing and two interceptions.

Yuen rushed for a 5-yard TD and he made the PAT to make it, 7-6 with 58.2 seconds left before halftime.

To start the third quarter, Nainoa DeCorte recovered the fumble on the kickoff. Yuen threw a 21-yard score to Miguel but the run failed to make it, 13-6.

After Aiea turned it over on downs, Moanalua scored in seven plays as Yuen found Miguel for his second TD from 11 yards out to make it, 19-6 after the run failed.

Nainoa Chun had himself a big game on defense with two sacks and three tackle-for-losses. DeCorte and William Mann each had interceptions.

"Our defense works hard and they make our job easier," said Yuen.

"It was in the game plan to bring heat and we were comfortable with what we had over the top. Everything in the most part was in order defensively," said Eselu.

The Na Alii turned it over on downs for a second time in a row and Moanalua made Aiea pay. Rodrigues had a big 32 yard gain and Yuen found Miguel for 30 yards to set up his second rushing TD of the night with 5:52 left in the fourth quarter.
