Kapolei rode a two-hitter from Sadie Kapaku-You en route to a 3-0 win over Lahainaluna in a first-round game of the DataHouse/Hawaii High School Athletic Association Division I Softball State Championships at Rainbow Wahine Softball Stadium Tuesday afternoon.
Kapaku-You, a 5-5 sophomore, struck out two and walked two to improve to 7-5 on the year. Sala Pedebone homered, doubled, scored twice and Prestyne Kaimi Montira also drove in a run for the Hurricanes (9-8), who will play top-seed and Oahu Interscholastic Association champion Mililani in a 5 p.m. quarterfinal Wednesday.
Sophomore Taylor Asio took the loss for the Lunas (11-4), who will play in a 9 a.m. consolation game Wednesday.
